Samantha was designed with a focus on variety, versatility, beauty and practicality. With measured rhythm and contrasting, connected strokes, Samantha possesses a flowingly smooth elegance with the ability to take on many appearances, from simple styling to the fanciest of all flourishes with its 2700+ glyphs that take advantage of OpenType. Over 1100 alternate and swash letters feature ascenders and descenders that vary in length and complexity. Standard ligatures ensure that this font looks as perfect as possible and 20 discretionary ligatures enliven its style. Numerals are offered in their standard form, as well as an old style and a swash set too. The addition of 60 ornaments and 45 catchwords offer even more design possibilities.

Shelby is a monoline, semi-connected script typeface based on hand lettering created with a Speedball ‘B’ metal nib. It has a natural appearance of handwriting, yet its style yields enough strength to be used for a variety of purposes – such as headlines, logos and eye catching call-outs. Shelby features several automatic ligatures, stylistic and contextual alternates along with 20 ornaments that have been designed to further its handwritten look.

I absolutely LOVE using a pointed brush for lettering. The flexibility and broad range of styles that can spring forth from the brush is incredible, and this new design, Rosarian, was born from this experience. While creating the lettering for Rosarian, interesting forms came to life through the manipulation of the brush. The curvy stems on the letters a, g, u, for example, was a result of looping the brush around to create the down-stroke rather than lifting the brush off of the surface to join two strokes together. Instead of attempting a consistent contrast, I put a little more emphasis on the bottom part of the stroke to keep the look lively, playful and a bit retro. The addition of 215 alternates and 10 ornaments allows for a wide variety of looks, the use of contextual alternates keeps it looking ideal and enabling Stylistic Alternates switches the design to an unconnected script for a more informal appearance.

Liam is a playful, hand lettered serif typeface that bounces off the page with its exuberance and spontaneity. Liam features 130 alternate letters and takes advantage of contextual alternates that gives this font its natural look and feel. 52 ornaments have been illustrated to complement and complete this design.

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with patterns. Growing up in an home built in the 1920s that had very interesting wallpaper throughout can have that effect. These icons and tiles are a result of several sketches accumulated in my many notebooks, finally redrawn and assembled into an easy to use font format. Wallflowers features 26 unique hand drawn wallpaper tiles and their accompanying icons for standalone use. These dingbats can be used as icons, borders, and/or wallpaper patterns. Wallflowers are very easy to use, for borders or wallpaper, simply type the same letter consecutively (aaaa, bbbb, etc.) and voila! The pattern will emerge.

This design took me on a voyage across continents and cultures, its look taking shape in many forms. Western, tropical, and vintage old-world with a modern touch, Nelson is perfectly suited for headlines and logos, packaging and advertising. Featuring four sizes of capital letters – large, standard, petite and small, over 150 alternates and swashes and two sets of decorated initials (Nelson Rugged & Bold) – this titling font makes crafting a headline or logo a fun and interesting pursuit. Nelson is named after and dedicated to my friend, fellow instructor and former design professor, Gary P. Nelson. Designer, watercolorist and avid hiker, ‘Rugged Nelson’ opened my eyes to the world of lettering and type design and has been the ultimate friend and mentor.

Alana is a natural looking, semi-connected script face. Based on hand lettering, friendly and unique with its ability to transition from casual to formal, it holds its original hand drawn, slightly rough look and feel. It features 341 alternates which include two additional uppercase letter sets and hundreds of alternate lowercase letters making it very versatile. 62 whimsical ornaments are designed especially to coordinate with Alana’s style.

Tiva gives the impression of handwriting with the refinement of hand lettering. To achieve this effect, I kept in some of the quirks and the naturally occurring variations in writing such as letters that drop slightly below the baseline and some above. I added in several automatic letter combinations, with particular attention to double letter pairs (such as ‘oo’ or ‘ee’), to further accentuate the organic effect of handwriting. 60 alternate letters are included in this typeface, allowing the designer even more creative possibilities.

An incredibly versatile serif face featuring over 200 upper case alternates, Old Style Numbers, Petite Caps and Small Caps. Yana can be used for just about anything. Create a stylish logo, sophisticated headline and use it for text!

Origins is a calligraphic font with an antique look and feel, complete with 140 alternate characters and ornaments. This type design was hand lettered with a Crow Quill pen on parchment paper, providing it with its natural, rough appearance. Sometimes, Sheila likes to switch it up with her alternate letters, and she keeps some of her fancy lettering from getting too out of hand by using ligatures. MyFonts Rising Star
- March, 2010 Recherché, a unique hand lettered font, began with hundreds of sheets of paper filled with letters rendered with a pointed brush. During the process of refining the font, I realized that it had the potential to be very versatile, transitioning from casual to elegant with the use of over 100 alternate swash letters which include a set of formal capital letters. It is a very fun font to design with as there are so many options (11 different versions of the letter ‘h’ for example), yet even with the flourishing, it still remains a legible script.

Ladybird - a lively and playful typeface which will bring lots of fun to your design, features lots of ligatures and a few alternates. Ladybird's joyful nature will bring excitement and interest to headlines, packaging, posters, cards and so much more!

Regina - an elegant and flowing script suitable for headlines, wedding invitations and advertising. Named after, and dedicated to my mother - whose beautiful handwriting always inspired me.

Sepian is an original hand lettered font based primarily on Textualis, or Textura in the Blackletter family, the style most commonly associated with Gothic scripts. The addition of barbs to the terminals add to its modern and sharp look and feel.

Several years ago, I was asked to design a brochure for a native plant habitat garden. I drew some scenic backgrounds with charcoal, used pen and ink to stipple detailed scientific drawings of the plants to be showcased in the garden, and brush lettered on watercolor paper the headlines for each section of the brochure. When showing the first stage of this font to friends and family, I received several interesting and a few funny remarks on it. Many believe that GrindelGrove looks eerie, spooky, scary and well suited for a story of a vampire or Halloween. Another friend said, "Aaarrgh Matey - it has a wee bit of a pirate look". Others commented that it reminded them of elves, fairies, dragons and demons, and finally - some said it had an organic and natural look and feel.
